UNLESS YOU ARE GONNA NARROW YOUR AXLE HOUSING OR ARE GONNA STEER 45 DEGREES PLUS THERE ISNT ANY REASON TO MOUNT TO THE CAST PART OF THE HOUSING.
MY NEW "RENTAL BUILD" WILL LIKELY NEED TO BE WELDED TO THE CAST EVEN THOUGH I AM KEEPING THE AXLES FOOL WIDTH.......

I forgot you shortend the PS.. but it all still helps feed my little head on what to do.... I think I'm still leaning toward a radius arm 3link front.... but we shall see how it actually turnsout.. I am really starting to hate this thing, everytime i move forward it feels like 3 steps back because I end up wanting to change or cleanup something about whatever I just did...

looks GOOD Jeremy!
what you gonna do in the foot wells? they just gonna stay open, or you going to put expanded metal or something?
and, i don't see a place for your cooler or toolbag yet? you better find one, cuz you'll probably be trail wheelin' this one for awhile before Rental2 is done.

I see 2 sad buggies in those pics....
One of them is pushed aside, sitting on roller tires, and knows it's about to be gutted.....
The other has a nice basket in the back of it, sweet custom fuel cell, but was so bent and damaged that I actually heard it weeping at Pat's house....
But fuck it, that's rock crawling son!!!!

For a comp buggy, it's not that big of a deal....don't want anything hindering vision. Which is why I bet there will be a set of clear Passenger side panels on this car for next year....

Nothing like a little dirt UP the pants
Lexan works good until it gets dirty, then it's pretty much useless.
This thing still making it's maiden run this weekend @ moonrocks?

WELL DUE TO THE CRAPPY WEATHER NO PLAYING THIS WEEKEND.......
IT LET ME DO A FEW MORE THINGS AND TAKE A COUPLE MORE PICS...
INSTALLED THE FUEL TANK VENT LINE AND BALL VALVE.
INSTALLED THE REAR WINCH SUCK DOWN PULLEY AND RING....ADDED SOME WINCH ROPE AS NEEDED.
RE-CYCLED ALL BUT MAYBE 15FT OF WINCH ROPE I HAD LEFT ON THE OLD LONG DRUM....ABOUT 50 FT OR SO ON IT NOW...
RELOCATED WINCH CONTROL SOLINIODS, SINCE THERE WAS NO ROOM FOR THEM UP FRONT THAT DIDNT BLOCK THE RADIATOR AIRFLOW
IT STILL NEEDS THE WATER IN THE TIRES ROTATED FROM REAR TO FRONT.....AND GAS!!!

IJM NOT SURE IF TODAY WAS THE PAY OFF BUT OTHER THAN A BAD USED ORBITAL ENDING MY DAY EARLY....THIS BUGGY IS F-ING RETARDED!!!
THE ENGINE SOUNDED AWESOME OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS IN THE SHOP ,BUT TODAY I GOT TO FIND OUT WHAT THAT WAS ALL ABOUT!!! THIS THING FULLY GETS IT....TWO MINUTES AFTER IT WAS OFF THE TRAILER I WAS POWER SLIDING IT IN 2WD HIGH RANGE!!!
I ONLY HAD TIME TO PLAY ON THREE OF THE OBSTACLES WE DID FOR THE CLUB CHALLENGE BEFORE THE ORIBIAL ALL BUT REFUSED TO TURN.....
THE BUMP WHERE DON HAD A PART FAIL....I TRIED CRAWLING IT AND NO GO...BACK UP TWO FEET AND GAVE IT WHAT I THOUGHT WAS GONNA BE A LITTLE BUMP..... IT DID IT ALL WITH EASE.
ONLY PICS I GOT WHERE BEFORE I UNLOADED IT AND THE MINI CLEAN-UP I GOT TO DO RIGHT UNDER THE SIGN........
OVERALL....I AM SUPER HAPPY WITH THIS BUGGY......SWAP THE ORBITAL AND ILL BE BACK PLAY SOME MORE NEXT WEEKEND!!!

i know you said it was the header bolts, but i've had problems with the collector gaskets also as i said. if those start to leak as mine did, try these. buy 2 sets, and double them up. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PHP-68001/

The collectors were tight luckily,I think I just didnt tighten the flange to the heads enough as it has had an exhaust tick and I kept looking for a discolored heat wrap thinking it was something i missed on the buttwelds.....
I may invest in some of these though...

I don't think you'll need them. you wanna let your exhaust get hot and leave the engine running, then go around and tighten all header and flange bolts. that is what i did, and haven't had any issues except for the damn collector ones. they should make them out of 3/8 to keep them from bending. of course everytime i've blown them out was after several full throttle hill climbs at sand mountain.

FINALLY TORE BACK INTO THIS TODAY.....
I PUT A AGR SUPER PUMP ON IT AND IT WORKS GREAT!!!!
I CALLED PSC THE MONDAY AFTER THE TRIP OUT ABOUT THE POWER STEERING PUMP ISSUE. AND THEY TOLD ME TO TAKE IT OFF AND SEND IT BACK...... I WAS KINDA PISSED THAT THEY WOULDNT JUST SHIP ME A NEW PUMP. I KINDA PREFER TO TAKE STUFF APART AND FIX IT RIGHT NOW...NOT TWO WEEKS OF A DISABLED RIG WAITING FOR A PUMP THAT HAD ABOUT 3 HOURS RUN TIME ON IT.....
AFTER I SWAPPED IT AND HAD IT ALL RUNNING I PULLED ON THE INPUT SHAFT OF THE PSC PUMP AND IT SLID RIGHT OUT...INTACT!!!!! IT LOOKS LIKE THE RETAINING CLIP THAT KEPT THE ROTOR ON THE SHAFT HAS FALLEN OFF AND RUN THROUGH THE PUMP.....
SINCE THE AGR PUMP CAME WITH A NICE BOX ILL DROP THE PSC PUMP IN IT AND SEND IT TO PSC FOR REPLACEMENT.

I WAS LOOKING THROUGH SOME OLD PHOTOBUCKET PICS AND CAME ACROSS THESE...
IF THERE IS ANY DOUBT WHY I BUILT MY OWN CHASSIS LIKE TC....
THIS SPOT IN UPPER BC....NOBODY HAS EVER CRAWLED IT...I KNOW OF A LOCAL 100...SOMETHING CHASSIS THAT WAS ON ITS ROOF THERE....

PLUS IT WAS THE ORIGINAL TO HIT THE LAST WATERFALL....UNASSISTED!!!!
I TOOK THOSE PICS SO I CAN SAY IT HAPPENED...PLUS IT MUST HAVE LEFT SOME KIND OF IMPRESSION ENOUGHT TO WANT ONE!!!!

I can finally say this buggy is done... 10 power steering pumps later I finally figured out why ps pumps only lasted 6-8 hours of wheeling...
Within 10 minutes of just idling the pumps used to get so hot you couldnt touch them.. The hotter they got they made noise and eventually didnt work.
I have replaced the whole system once.
The fix... I took the psc pump can and replaced it with an original ham can that I added a 10an fitting to the top where the cap was originally... Hooked that to the resivoir , capped the 6an inlet at the resivoir... And ran the return right to the factory ham can....
Wheeled boondoggal today(one shotted the one hard obstacle... To redeem myself!) and zero pump issues! I could put my hand on the pump at any time and it was just warm!

Bump for a sweet rig....
Glad to see all this data all back up so I can read the build thread. I've been loving this rig!
1st comp ever at Oroville
Tony and I took 1st place
2nd Comp at Donner
And a few weeks back when Travis and I took 1st at the SSRCC and the most fun of all comps.
