HOLY CRAP....IF ANYONE THINKS THIS CHASSIS IS AN EASY BUILD OR IS SIMPLE BY DESIGN....I BEG TO DIFFER!!!!

18 TUBES ADDED TODAY...... NOT ONE 10 INCHES LONG!!!!

I CAN SAY THE SUB FRAME IS FULLY SUPPORTED!!!!ON THE UP SIDE I CAN NOW START TO PUT ALXES UNDER IT,AND ADD THE ENGINE FOR MOUNTING!!!!!





BIG THANKS TO TFAB AND "TATER" FOR KNOCKING OUT SOME MOTOR MOUNT PLATES AND HAVING SOME NEEDED ITEMS IN STOCK TO KEEP THE BALL ROLLING!!!!

Honestly can't tell you yet, the thought has crossed my mind to copy it to the T, but there are a bunch of things I would change. Probably would just keep the simple tube layout, after looking at Lovells chassis extensively I'd rather have something simple and straight forward that works rather then a super custom one off tight fitting chassis.

NO NEW PICS...ILL GET SOME TONIGHT.

BUT I THINK IM FINALLY DONE WITH THE FRONT AXLE BRACKETS!!!!NOW I CAN SET THE ANGLE ON THE UPPER SINGLE SHEAR CHASSIS END LINK MOUNTS!!!

ONE THING I DID START TO DO WAS MEASURE FOR THE ENGINE AND FOUND OUT MINE WILL BE AT LEAST 5" FORWARD OF THE JAPANESE BUGGY....:pissed:

WHO KNEW A C4 WAS ONLY 17" LONG WITH THE BELLHOUSING??? I THOUGHT MY TH350 AT 23" WAS SHORT....

MY GOAL IS TO HAVE THE FRONT LINKS DONE AND THE ENGINE/TRANS/TCASE SET BY THE END OF THE WEEKEND.........

i know it has worked for TC and been depated forever, but that single sheer mount does just make you cringe looking at it!

are you sure those brackets were tig welded by Jesse? looks like maybe you used JB Weld and a tongue depresser.:Smile:

I have been around a TON of TC cars and I have NEVER seen one go! Doesn't mean it hasnt but I have seen them go thru alot of abuse more than what a trail wheeler puts his rig thru and never failed!!

THE CHASSI UPPERS ARE MISSING THE SIDE PLATES AND ALOT MORE WELDING SO THEY ARENT QUITE DONE YET!!!!

OK FINALLY A FEW PICS....

The bungs will actually be plated and boxed...

Alll lower links are 1 1/4 heims,2" .250 dom tube...


Since the upper link placement is dictated by the chassis the uppers attach over center just to keep the upper links 1" longer than the lowers...




I gotta admit Im going deep into my parts stash on this build.......and using the Currie anti-rock that came with the green jeep!!!!



tomorrow I plan to get all the extra brackets off of the rear axle,swap on the disk brakes,reassemble the front axle minus shafts.....

BECAUSE THE 70% UPPER RULE OF THUMB IS FOR 4 LINKS ON DRAG CARS!!!!

....AND WITH LONGER UPPER LINKS AS THE AXLE DROOPS AWAY THE PINION ANGLE RISES....MAKING YOUR DRIVELINE MUCH LESS LIKELY TO BIND.

EVERY LINK SUSPENSION I HAVE EVER BUILT IS LIKE THIS....AND MY THOUGH HAS ALWAYS BEEN,SINCE THE LINK CALC PROGRAM REALLY ONLY TELL YOU THE #/% AS IT WOULD SIT AT RIDE HEIGHT....WHAT HAPPENS TO THOSE # WHEN THE SUSPENSION MOVES??

NOW( IF YOU HAVE A SHORTER UPPER LINK),AS THE SUSPENSION DROOPS THE ANTI SQUAT #s GET JACKED ALOT QUICKER AND MORE DRAMATICALLY,SINCE THE LINK ANGLE GETS STEEPER QUICKER THAN IF YOU HAD A LONG LINK IN THE SAME SPOT.SO I SEE NO ADVANTAGE TO HAVING A SHORTER UPPER OTHER THAN PACKAGING.....

I made my rear upper 70% of the lower, then was told by the guys at TFAB exactly what Rockape typed. My pinion would not rotate the amount needed with the shorter uppers, and my d-line would bind at about 7" of drop. I re-did and with my upper about 8" longer. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!

can you even get aluminum radiators that have welded tubes? i thought all were epoxied. i've never had any problems with the epoxy. we had to get pretty close to it welding my outlet tube on. it discolored slightly but no issues. my buddy that did it, said they all do that, and has never had an issue.

my 5.3 stays cool with my 19x22 w/ the Thunderbird fan on LOW. only ever run it on high sometimes at Sand Mountain after a few long hard full throttle hill climbs. the biggest bonus with the t-bird fan is first, the cost, $35 at PNP, and it is THE QUIETEST fan i have ever had. on low, you can hardly hear it, and my exhaust is not loud my no means.

OH, lookin' good. makes me want to start a project!

my 5.3 stays cool with my 19x22 w/ the Thunderbird fan on LOW. only ever run it on high sometimes at Sand Mountain after a few long hard full throttle hill climbs. the biggest bonus with the t-bird fan is first, the cost, $35 at PNP, and it is THE QUIETEST fan i have ever had. on low, you can hardly hear it, and my exhaust is not loud my no means.

OH, lookin' good. makes me want to start a project!
MOST ALL HIGHER END ARE WELDED THAT'S WHY I ASKED TO GET AN IDEA. BECOOL RADIATOR'S ARE ALL WELDED AND THERE ARE A FEW MORE BUT CANT REMEMBER
