i've learned that PROCASTINATION pays of immediately were as HARD WORK & DEDICTION pays off only in the long run. maybe this is on his BUCKET-LIST! of course, if he waits much longer he's gonna need a 6 seater!

I think once this rig is done and the replicant is done he will have enough rigs for everyone in his family. He can host his own trail runs.

MORE PROGRESS THANKS TO ORI AND THEIR ABILITY TO MAKE TABS AND BRACKETS!!!!

I HAD 10 FEET OF 1.75 DOM AND USED 9.5 FEET OF IT DOING THE SHOCK HOOPS....

I STILL NEED TO ADD A REMOVEABLE CROSSBAR AND CUT THE HOOD SO THE 1/2" OF SHOCK HOOPS CAN COME THROUGH!!!!

Whoa slow it down. You have gotten just a little too much done.

His paln is to take all his rigs to a trail run so if something breaks he can just swap rigs. I think he gonna have to sell his current tow trailer and pick up one of these.

MOUNTED ORBITAL,NO WHERE I REALLY WANTED IT BUT SINCE I WASNT GONNA MOUNT THE SHOCK TOWER OUTBOARD OF THE FRAME RAILS CONCESSIONS HAD TO BE MADE TO BE SURE IT WOULD ALL FIT.....




I ALSO MOUNTED THE RAM AND MADE A NEW TIEROD......



THE HYDRO RAM IS A 8" TRAVEL 2.5 BORE AG UNIT THAT I CUT THE ONE CLEVIS END OFF DISASSEMBLED AND HAD IT DRILLED AND TAPPED FOR A 3/4 X 5/8 HEIM....BY DOING THAT IT SHORTENS ITS OVERALL LENGTH BY AT LEAST 3 INCHES WITHOUT EFFECTING ITS OPERATION.....AND MAKES FITTING IT 100% EASIER!!! BEST PART....THE RAM CAME FROM A TRADE....SO $0.......!!!!

Good idea! that GIANT clevis is a pain, plus the pins and/or what they go through wear pretty quick creating slop. to bad the shaft didn't come drilled/tapped AND threaded on the outside so you could go either way.

This thing is coming out great!
Have one question re. the rear links.... would that still be considered a 4 link?
I really like the way that you ran the upper links off of ONE pivot vs. two.
Just curious about the WHY you opted to do that?

Dont know much about the 4 links as Ive never had any plans to do it....YET!

THE REAR IS A Y LINK 3 LINK......IT SAVES 3 HEIMS!!!!

MY YELLOW BUGGY AND THE FIRST CJ5 CRAWLER I BUILT ALL HAVE THIS SET-UP....I ALWAYS FELT IT HAD ADVANTAGES OVER A 4 LINK BUT NOW THAT I HAVE A RIG THATS 4 LINKED FRONT AND REAR IM NOT SO SURE...BUT THEN AGAIN THE 4 LINK RIG HAS A SWAY BAR IN THE REAR THAT MIGHT BE COVERING CERTAIN HANDLING ISSUES UP!!!

WENT TO HOSE AND FITTING AND BOUGHT 6 REUSEABLE FITTINGS AND 10 FEET OF HIGH PRESSURE HOSE....$155.....CAME HOME AND ASSEMBLED...JUST NEED TO ADD FLUID AND BLEED STEERING!!!

I THINK I HAVE DECIDED TO HOLD OFF ON THE AUTO SWAP AND JUST PUT THE D300 BEHIND THE AX15 FOR NOW.....DUE TO MORE THAN A FEW COMPLICATIONS OF PUTTING THE EARLY TF999 IN A LATER 4.0 I6....(ISSUES...NO PLACE FOR CRANK POS SENSOR,HAS TO BE RELOCATED....,FLEX PLATE AND TQ CONVERTER BOLT HOLES IN DIFFERENT SPOTS....KICK DOWN CABLE ATTACHMENT.........SHIFTER....)

SO IN AN EFFORT TO GET THIS THING GOING ILL ADD THE 4:1 GEARED D300....WITH 5.89 AXLE GEARS ILL STILL HAVE A 95:1 CRAWL RATIO....PROBABLY FINE FOR TRAIL RIDING....

SWAPPED IN THE D300 HAD TO CUT THE FLOOR A BIT TO GET THE D300 SHIFT TOWER TO FIT.....STILL GOTTA PULL IT BACK OUT AND ADD A LITTLE RTV TO THE GASKET AND INSTALL THE STUDS WITH A LITTLE LOCKTITE....

SINCE I HAVE HAD THE CURRIE TWIN STICK SHIFTER AND IT FULLY SUCKS IM GONNA GO WITH THIS....

SWAPPED IN THE D300 HAD TO CUT THE FLOOR A BIT TO GET THE D300 SHIFT TOWER TO FIT.....STILL GOTTA PULL IT BACK OUT AND ADD A LITTLE RTV TO THE GASKET AND INSTALL THE STUDS WITH A LITTLE LOCKTITE....

SINCE I HAVE HAD THE CURRIE TWIN STICK SHIFTER AND IT FULLY SUCKS IM GONNA GO WITH THIS....

AFTER NOT REALLY SPENDING ANY REAL $$$ OR TIME ON THIS THING I CANT BELIEVE I HAVE LET IT SIT IN THE YARD FOR SO LONG.......
funny how you can build a comp buggy from the ground up before you do a few weekends worth of work on the YJ, is there a reason you couldnt build a set of twin sticks or are you just figuring its money well spent? my dad is at the cross road of either build or buy them so this might make the decision

i think 100 bucks is fair for the amount of work that goes in them, and jrat is a cool guy(who i got your D60 from) i hear you on finding good deals when you wait, sometimes is fun to have a long term project just so you can find all those deals and then put it together on the cheap.

FWIW, I had built a set of shifters for my junk. Took a LOOONG time tracking down the right shit, fitting etc. The throw is still too long, so I have to go back and work that out.
I wish they MADE something for my cases, but...not a whole lot of demand for the 203-19 spline split case combo.

OK SO I HAVENT TAKEN MUCH PICS LATELY BUT THIS HAS BEEN GETTING WORKED ON!!!!

GOT THE T-CASE INSTALLED AND SEALED UP......FINALLY GOT MY JB CUSTOM D300 STAINLESS SHIFTERS AND THEY ARE SWEET...THOUGH I DID VARY FROM THE INSTRUCTIONS SLIGHTLY..... ALSO BLED THE STEERING AND GOT IT UP AND WORKING!!!!

AND AFTER ALOT OF THOUGHT I FINALLY DOVE INTO THE EXHAUST AND DECIDED THAT MODIFYING THE CURRENT HEADER ISNT GONNA HAPPEN AND IT WOULD BE MUCH EASIER TO JUST INSTALL NEW....WENT TO SUMMIT AND GOT THIS...

The green Yj saw a little bit of light snow wheeling today!!! And other than it needing a more powerful cooling fan(temp saw 240 once.... ) and some more nitrogen in the rear shocks....its ready to wheel!!!!

Today is the first time this has been used for more than a yard tug since I broke the front dana 44 axle shaft snow wheeling at least 4 years ago.......

basic specs:
93 wrangler
4.0 stroked to 4.6lL
ax15 5 speed
dana 300 4:1 twin sticked
dana 60 fr welded 5.86gears
dana 70u rear welded 5.89 gears
Brand new-42" swampers on 15" rockathon beadlocks
3 link rear(Y link)front 3 link(panhard)
Full hydro steering/stock jeep power steering pump
8000lb winch

Future plans will include cutting the rear section and adding a rear seat for my kids....

I have had the green beast out a few times around my house for some light snow wheeling with my kids lately and got the cooling system problem fixed(a new rad cap and the electric fan tstat adjusted to turn on at 210...).

It runs pretty rich when cold or hot and even loads up at idle when fully warmed up... No check engine light.... Im gonna put my scan tool on it and check the coolant temp and see O2 sensor to see if they are working correctly... Also check the fuell pressure and for vacuum leaks.....

Other than that it works pretty good.... Though the welded diffs bring the suck for turning!

2.5 years later.....

And she now has front coil overs because the airs werent cutting it due to the weight of the rig.

It now has a PRP front bench seat....(yes a bench up front.....) Since my girls are now 6 and 8 and like to go wheelin I didnt want to cut the rig in half ,so a 48" wide prp bench was installed with 3-4pt harnesses!

Its also got LED lighting for the night cruise in the desert and a stereo that includes a pair of the crawltunes speaker cans.

I need to re-route the fuel lines down the passenger side as it actually vapor locked on a hot day because the exhaust is too close to the fuel lines now.

I also need to install a new bigger master cyl as the one in it takes a pump to get it stopped.

Id like to get this out for a quick rubicon trip with my kids(in tahoe ,up to buck and back out...) before its too cold.

I have installed a total of 4 of those benches in my vehicles.... one in my pro-ratrod NASH wagon,and a pair of them in my 70 2wd blazer...one in the jeep!
