its buggy time!

well finally happened. after years of trading and swapping i finally got my hands on a buggy. well a chassis atleast. basically swapping all the parts out of my tacoma into this chassis. will be upgrading a few things from the taco as it goes in.
ARB the front with 5.13s
replace rear housing (bent) add artec truss and 5.13s disk brakes etc
adding race runner coilovers to the rear
run my FOAs on the front
install supercharged 3.4 with 5 speed and built dual cases. (AW4 and atlas eventually)
4 link front and rear.


not to much of a build thread i guess more change a few things and add parts but will get pics of it going together.
heres what i have to start with

ARB the rear...weld the front. Its rare I ever turn off my front arb....now the rear is in and out alot.

Install that rear DL disconnect...front digs are your friend. just front wheel drive in some cases is the difference between being bound up of making stuff look easy!

I like the chrome panels...... :niggaz:

will be getting more pics this weekend. i already bought the front ARB, although im still waiting on it 6 weeks later definitly on the driveline disco. would love to have an ARB in the rear eventually

besides seeing Jesse use some crazy combination of locked and unlocked diffs to get that wall on Smackitt i still LOVE having SPOOLS front AND rear! Cheap, no moving parts, and I never think about it - its all you got. Of course front & rear digs and being able to turn 50 degrees really helps. I would invest in turning radius and dig before ARB's any day!

i agree to a point for sure. been running welded front and rear all this year and is nice knowing i dont have to worry about air, is the locker going to work etc. one main reason i like the arb up front is the steering is alot happier not working as hard and it does shorten up your turning radius. the RCVs are good to 45* steering which will help over my stock shafts. being that im still waiting on the ARB i might just cancel it and either ARB the rear or something else.

The locked front isnt what screws your turning radius... Its the rear pushing the front in a straight line...as well as the drivetrain bind caused from all wheels turning the same speed. Open the rear and it allows the front to pull through a turn instead of being pushed by the rear.

See me saturday Ill demo it for you and you can see for yourself.

Invest in a 10" ram and make sure you put your link mounts on your axle to use the 45 deg rcv's will handle...

Yes, that's it. I front dig often, or even just disconnect the rear without brakes to help the turning situation. Luckily my tcase goes in/out pretty easy and fast and don't even have to stop to re-engage.

This is why I put my ARB in the rear and a Detroit up front.

The only thing that sucks when I run out of air is putting my tires back on. I need some beadlocks.

The biggest problem I see with arbs is guys forgetting to turn them on. I don't know how many times Saturday I heard someone yelling dude turn on your locker,

just a few updates. got a bought a 76 DJ that im going to use to title this thing( thanks chris) been mainly spending my time helping a buddy finish is buggy so we can get my on the lift, got the 14 Bolt all set up with 5.13s and full ARTEC truss with new disk brakes as well, got the new TG conversion oil pan for the 3.4 for diff clearance, adding to the list of parts. my old man hooked me up for christmas and got me the ARTEC front axle truss and ram mount as well as there double sheer steering arms :bling:, also picked up my new seats. ( thanks Tfab) chassis should hopefully be hitting the lift right after the new year to get the ball rolling!!!!

ive always liked lime green but dont like it in huge amounts. hence the diff covers being painted green on the letters, just the piping on the seats, my knuckles are getting powdercoated green, etc. i liked it before it was cool

My rig has been blue and lime green for three years. I like it cause its bright and obnoxious much like the driver minus the bright part.

so picked up the new power plant for the buggy and not even 24 hours after having it its down to a bare block for some upgrades and sexyness,engine started as a 2000 6.0L LQ4 will be getting ported LS1 heads with aftermarket valve springs, and a gm LS3 hot cam. engine is looking at putting out 400-425 HP when done

heres the block all disassembled and getting ready for cleaning.



better part of the engine is all assembled. need to add injectors etc but pretty much ready to drop in the chassis.

got alittle done this weekend, was able to get the artec truss on the front axle and axle is under the buggy to mock up full pump to get the drivetrain in. looks like the links i saved from the tacoma i will have to cut down about 3" which is a minor problem. only issue looks to be getting the crank pulley to clear the upper links.

some changes i have to make to the chassis is the front shock mounts, PO didnt have them supported enough and bottomed out more than once while running norcal rock racing, driver side had a half ass patch made as it tore the tube out and the passenger side tube is bent. will be replacing with 1 3/4 .120 wall DOM and change design alittle bit. on the plus side though, got some bigger shoes for the old gal and stepped up to 43 SXs should help the 14 bolt from dragging hahaha.

also got the engine mounted its sitting right at 3* of tip in the front which also helped with upper link clearance on the pan, will be making the tranny and tcase mounts in the next few days.
