Well, it has been a while...
I have my new motor, all cleaned up and ready to go. The harness was re-worked by the guy who put it together the first time, and it is a little cleaner than it was, and way cleaner than the big ol' mess rockape has in his buggy. I was able to fit the computer, relays, and connections behind my seat out of the way. I just fabbed up a simple piece of sheet metal to mount it all to. It is currently just held in place with zip ties, which works for now, but I might actually put some panel tabs back there and mount it a little more solidly.
The power steering cooler is sitting right to that side right now as well, but I'm not sure it is going to stay there. It gets in the way of my line of sight on that rear tire, and since my seat is offset, this is more of an obstruction than the radiator is on the other side.
Speaking of radiator, I just used some stock lower rubber mounts that I found at pick and pull. I built some round holders slipped the mounts in, and used a modified stock upper mount to hold it all in. This is more or less what Rockape did on his...
The batteries are just sitting in there for right now, but they will end up mounted in that general region. If I do put a full size winch in there, I will definitely run two batteries, but that front one will probably in the way there, so I will stack them side by side in the back...

This is the shifter I made...
It is a summmit shifter cable with a homeade aluminum clevis attached to a welded up short handle. It feels pretty nice and shifts nice and smooth. I have a spring on the side that I can shim for a little more resistance if I want it. It doesnt have a park lockout yet, but I plan on getting one cobbled together eventually. I want to be able to hit reverse without thinking if things get ugly...
The new bling power steering pump and pulley...
The pulley PSC sent me is way bigger than the one Rockape has, so I got to use the AC pulley on the crank and not have to worry about spacing the tensioner and everything out. I just used a couple of pieces of angle I had laying around. It isnt super pretty, but it seems like it will work. I am glad I put my upper arm further out, because I think I would have run into the pulley if I mounted it up and in like Rockape did.

2.5" backspace Allied rockathons.

A few new things...
My front driveshaft mount.
I used the stock bearing support, so we'll see how that works. The bling Hendrix piece should go in easily If I need it, My d-shaft is a couple inches closer to center than Rockape's, which should help with diveshaft angles and potential link interference issues.

The new rear shock mounts...
They are out about 3/4" and down about 1/2" from the old locations. They aren't super symmetrical front to back, and so they look a little weird from some angles... Side to side they are a bit different as well due to just how big a PITA it was to do all that notching and fit-up work. As long as they work, I don't really care.

A few other bits...
The ECU panel
A mounted tire - tightening 128 bolts sucks...
Fortunately for me they are almost exactly the same diameter as the MTR's I've been using for assmembly and fitting everything.
The first real regatta of the season is this weekend, and I wont have this done as I had hoped. The end of the month is very optimistic at this point. Mid May is probably more realistic.

IM GONNA STAND BY MY IDEA THAT ONCE THE STICKIES ARE ON THE BUGGY THE MTRs WILL GET VERY LITTLE USE!!!!
LOOKS GOOD AND IM SURE WITHOUT THE HUGE BATTERY BOX YOU WILL HAVE MORE INTERIOR SPACE EVEN THOUGH YOURS IS A BIT NARROWER!!!!

Not much fab left now.
Exhaust header thing
I had to go from the two outputs of the manifold to a single out, and this is what I came up with...
made the flange from a piece of 5/16" I had laying around and use a couple 1.5" u-bends from summit with a few odd sized bits for the collector. If this doesnt work, I can go to a single outlet manifold like rockape.
Rear ram mount
The toy high steer arms are so short, there isnt alot of room to work. I built a bridge out of 2" .120, and used some big tabs with a piece of tube between them for the ram mount. I need to have the end of the shaft cut and tapped to use a rod end because the regular end is too big...

AFTER A SLIGHT BIT OF HARD USE THIS LAST WEEKEND IT IS ADVISED THAT YOU ADD SOME KIND OF GUSSET THAT RUNS FROM THE UPPER LINK BRACKET TO THE THIRD MEMBER!!!IM SURE YOU COULD ADD IT UNDER THE HOUSING OR ALONG THE BACK!!!!I THINK ITS TIME FOR ME TO STEP UP TO A DIAMOND HOUSING!!!
ALSO I HAVE YOUR SHOCK DROPPED OFF TO TONY K!!!!

That ram mount attaches to the link mount...
Maybe I'll just plate it in and hope for the best.
A second gusset like the stock one for the bottom wouldnt hurt either I guess, but I've read a bunch of stories of warping housings when doing the gusset thing.
Ultimately, a diamond makes sense I guess Maybe time to step up to a Taco center then as well and not worry about the R&P...

I warped a toyota rear housing from cutting (with a torch), and welding on it. the axle bearing flange bolts were mis-aligned by about 1/2inch when i went to re-assemble it all.
BE CAREFULL!

This last weekend, I got it all taken apart to finish the welding and put all the panel tabs on, etc...
But first, I finished the exhaust. After talking to Jesse about it, I went with a simple 2" Thrush muffler:
I will put some sort of turndown/tip on there to finish it off...
I also built a console/cover for all my controls:
This will also be where a lot of switches go, like the ARB, winch, and master disconnect.
Then I put in a small dash:
This will house the ignition and a few other switches, and any gauges I might want.
The only fab left is a winch mount and panel tabs. Hopefully it will be ready for reassembly by next weekend and maybe a maiden voyage Memorial Day weekend
